Let the wait begin
For the majority of current high school seniors, the college application process is finished. Those who applied in the early round, especially early decision, already know where they are going to be come September. Students who applied early action, and were accepted, at least know that they are going to college in September.
Most college bound students, however, apply during the regular decision round. The deadlines for regular decision vary from December 31 to January 15 and as late as February 28, as in the case of United States Military Academy at West Point. Applications and supporting documentation from their high schools are sitting in admissions offices all over the country waiting to be read, reviewed and have a decision made.
And now the wait begins. Most students will start receiving admissions decisions after March 1...6 weeks from now. Even though all the paperwork is done, high school seniors need to stay focused on senior year. It is almost the end of the first semester and guidance offices will be sending mid-year transcripts to the colleges where their students have applied. Seniors need to finish out their last year in high school as strongly as they started it because many of the college acceptance letters will have something like this in it... "Acceptance is contingent upon successful completion of your high school courses."
Congratulations on completing the daunting task of submitting college applications. Yes, you deserve to relax (and so do your parents)! Please continue to study hard and finish strong.
